INTRODUCTION TO THE STATISTICS ON THE BLINDNESS

Abstract
|
|
|
Importance of establishing the reliable statistics on the blindness in order to found the principal projects in prevention of blindness and in effective rehabilitation for the blind are described.
Features and background of statistics on the blindness in various countries are very briefly listed including the conditions of the Britain and Wales, Sweden, United States of America, Canada, Japan, Korea and Egypt, etc.. Among these, modern technique of the three-phases approach of Model Reporting Area in Egypt is of interesting.
Historical review of endeavors completing statistics on the blindness in the United States of America, as well as the recently published data from the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, and results from the Model Reporting Areas statistics conducted by the National Institutes
of Health are introduced and instructed.
